Chasing wildflowers during 2013 in Upper Bidwell Park took on a new meaning as I upgraded to a full frame camera in the Canon system. This allowed me to begin to control the depth of field in my images to a much greater degree. These images were captured along the Yahi trail, and the South Rim/Annie Bidwell trails during late March and early April.

The White-whorled lupine are always a delight to see along with the many small patches of Wild hyacinth. I found a lone Red larkspur early on the Yahi trail, not seen there since. Nearly all the larkspurs are much higher up in the park. The tiny Grass pink and Hartwegs doll’s lily wildflowers are amazing to see for their minute size. And the oh so vibrant monkey flower can most often be found near rock and moisture.

Not pictured but seen on my hikes were some beautiful groupings of white tipped clover and winter vetch.
